To respect the past and develop the Arboretum for the future, new trees and shrubs must be procured, and elements of its heritage need to be restored, recorded, and archived.

 

This work goes beyond the scope of the Council’s day-to-day funding, highlighting the vital role of the Friends group. The restoration relied very heavily on the research carried out by members of the community, and this will continue. There is a rich fauna and flora that we need to survey and record and most importantly we need to promote the understanding of the importance of our natural and built heritage.
